Half woman, half monster. Exploring the late-stage feminism capitalist hellscape, she wanders through the hot pink forest. In the forest lives a myriad of mythical creatures. Harpies, headless birds, clawed chimera women and a lost little dog, all slink, stalk and stumble through these woods. Feathers, claws and knickers, caught in glimpses on the shadowy forest floor.

The works come together as windows into my mythical forest, creating its own folklore as we move through the paintings. My imagined fantasy world functions as a landscape to examine the performance of femininity today; the ‘woman’ performance, under the self-surveillance of social media, has become irrevocably intertwined with the true messiness of personhood. The woman half is the true monster. The forest is a safe haven for these creatures to live out their messy little lives in peace.
